Sustainability at Surestyle

Design Processes and Objectives

1.  Understand Modularity

Our flexible shelving system can be assembled quickly to create micro-architectural structures that are modifiable to define the purpose of individual spaces. We have a wide selection of shelving, rails and panels to adapt the shelving to your preference. Flat packaging our units uses less packaging material and at a broader view, increases packing space while transporting, in turn reduces the fuel consumption per unit. Overall, our methods decrease the carbon footprint.

2.  Materials

Our modular systems are made from Tubular Steel and they are coated in a Dulux Mannex finish. Our shelving systems incorporate a selection of high-quality materials, including mild steel, Bestwood, Melteca, Primepanels, Golden Edge MDF, and Warwick Fabrics. We are proud to emphasise that all these materials are sourced and manufactured using sustainable production methods and materials.

Prefinished panels constitute the bulk of our work, offering convenience and consistency in quality. However, when finishing is necessary, we accommodate specific requirements, ensuring the desired aesthetic and functionality are achieved. Whether it's a particular paint, stain, or varnish, we tailor our finishing process to meet client specifications, maintaining flexibility without compromising on excellence.

Regarding fabrics, we prioritise quality and reliability in our selections. While we don't adhere to any particular brand exclusively, we often source from reputable suppliers such as Warwick Fabrics. Warwick's extensive range and commitment to excellence align well with our standards for durability, aesthetics, and customer satisfaction. By partnering with trusted suppliers like Warwick, we ensure that the fabrics used in our projects meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

3.  Durability and Longevity

In selecting materials for projects, prioritising durability is paramount. Opting for moisture-resistant substrates like those found in melamine or melteca finishes, as offered by Prime Panels, ensures longevity and resilience against environmental challenges. Additionally, power-coated finishes provide moisture resistance, but steel may succumb to rust over time, particularly in wet areas. In such instances, utilising alternatives like aluminum can mitigate corrosion concerns. By prioritising materials known for their endurance, we not only guarantee the longevity of our products but also reduce the need for frequent replacements, thereby minimising waste and conserving resources. This conscientious approach not only aligns with sustainability goals but also fosters a safer and greener environment, promoting the principles of a circular economy and responsible consumption.

4.  Certifications and Standards

We are committed to using safe and environmentally friendly materials sourced exclusively from manufacturers with GreenStar ratings, Home ratings, or ECNZ certifications.

In our commitment to sustainability, we prioritise the use of low or no formaldehyde products whenever feasible. When specified, we adhere to standards such as FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), ensuring responsible sourcing of materials and promoting forest conservation practices.

5.  Social Impact

Redefine the spaces that you live, work, learn and love. By incorporating ergonomic displays and shelving, it will provide comfortable workspaces, or create inviting areas which will enhance employee and customer satisfaction, productivity, and overall well-being.
